Regalia question answers

·               What is regalia?
                    – American Indian costumes

·               In OA, who wears regalia?
                    – depending on the setting, anyone may.

·               When is it ok/not ok to wear my regalia?

o        OK: at dance events, competitions, training sessions, crossovers…

o        Not OK: the one time when the wearing of regalia is regulated is at official membership related ceremonies:
Ordeal and Vigil Call-outs, Pre-Ordeal, Ordeal, Brotherhood, Vigil. 
In those ceremonies, only the principals and assistants in the ceremony may wear regalia.*

·               Can adults wear regalia?
                    – see ok/not ok section, the same rules apply.

*Note: ONLY youth (under 21) are allowed to be principals and assistants in ceremonies.

·               Why don’t we have brotherhood candidates make regalia anymore?
                    – out of the desire for inclusion and concern that doing so might become cost prohibitive
